Howard Weber is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee before transferring to The University of South Florida, where he earned his Bachelors Degree in 1982. Howard then earned his law degree, Cum Laude, from Stetson University College of Law in 1985.
Following his admission to the Florida Bar in 1986 Howard practiced law in for two years in Miami before relocating to Tampa in order to take a position with Progressive Insurance Company, first in the legal department of the Florida regional office, and then as a trial attorney in the Tampa Staff Counsel office. It was from there, in 1993, that Howard was selected by GEICO Insurance Company to open its Tampa Staff Counsel office, where Howard worked for over a decade as a trial attorney, defending the company and its insureds in insurance coverage and injury litigation throughout West Central Florida. While with GEICO, in 1999, Howard became Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Florida Bar, and was recertified in 2004.
In 2006 Howard was invited by First Floridian Auto and Home Insurance Company to join the company as Florida Claim Counsel. Howard later accepted the position of Claim Center General Counselor for Travelers Insurance Company (parent company of First Floridian).
During his time with Travelers Insurance Company Howard earned the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) with an emphasis on commercial and residential property underwriting, claims and coverage. The CPCU designation is recognized in the insurance industry as requiring broad technical knowledge, high ethical standards, and demonstrated industry experience. Howard also earned the Associate in Claims (AIC) designation, which requires technical claim handling skills, communication and negotiation skills, good-faith claim handling abilities, and in-depth insurance policy knowledge.
Howard re-entered private law practice in 2011, and joined the law firm of Danahy and Murray as a trial lawyer, representing individual insureds and businesses in insurance claims, coverage disputes, and bad faith litigation.
Howard is admitted to the Florida Bar, and to the Middle and Southern Federal District Courts of Appeal, and certified as a continuing education Instructor and course provider by the Florida Department of Financial Services, for insurance adjuster continuing education credits in Law and Policy as well as Adjuster Ethics. Howard is also a certified as an Umpire by the Windstorm Insurance Network, and has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit and County Court Mediator since 2002.
